Don't lose your heart trying to save your mind; you will lose both in the process.

Sounds profound ... though I'm not exactly sure what it means. Care to expound a little more?

It's like what you've written before. We run from the grief/pain/hurts of our heart and often hide them because it seems easier than really letting ourselves go through that pain. We "lose" our sensitivity to matters of the heart in an attempt to maintain our ability to show the world that we are "okay." But, if we do that and never grieve through real issues in our lives, never process them at all, then they will lie deep within us infecting our entire being. Eventually, if not dealt with, I believe it can be the cause of much stress and anxiety in our minds; thus, we can end up "losing" our minds, too. Clearer?

Hey, I thought that is what you were getting at ... we tell ourselves that emotions aren't allowed in a certain situation, so we try to "look sane" to everyone else, but by denying the truth of our heart we drive ourselves insane eventually. Good quote ... I like it.

I haven't forgotten your study of the heart post from a few back and will try to come back and comment on that one when I have some time later this weekend.

What I think is really sad is that it seems like most of the churches i've been in have encouraged us not to reveal our hearts much. When we really share some of our biggest fears and/or struggles, we suddenly look like "horrible" sinners. Last I checked in the scriptures, we are. But, it definitely is not encouraged very often to be honest with our feelings.
